澳门六合彩官方网站 Sponsors Food Bank of Iowa
Press Release Sent Out by the Food Bank of Iowa
On November 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Food Bank of Iowa will distribute food to families in Des Moines at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Sponsored by 澳门六合彩官方网站, the food from this mobile distribution is free and available to any children, families, seniors, veterans or other Iowans in need.
Families will receive their food in either a box or a bag made by volunteers from donated t-shirts. Chicken, cheese, produce, eggs and other nutritious food will be available at the distribution. Food will be placed directly into cars, helping ensure a safe distribution for visitors, volunteers and staff.
The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically increased food insecurity rates. Since January 2020, food insecurity has doubled—and tripled for households with children. To meet the surging need for Iowa families, Food Bank of Iowa is organizing mobile food distributions in communities across the state.
Food insecurity—insufficient or unreliable access to enough nutritious food to live a healthy, active life—interrupts lives, livelihoods and learning. Even before the pandemic, food insecure households had to choose between food, utility bills, medical care, housing and other necessities. Now, more Iowans are being put in those difficult positions.
“We at 澳门六合彩官方网站 are grateful to the Food Bank of Iowa for providing food to the most vulnerable central Iowans with their drive-thru perishable food program,” said Gary Palmer, President/CEO of 澳门六合彩官方网站. “It is wonderful to see our donation dollars at work in the community.”
Food Bank of Iowa continues to work toward a hunger-free Iowa, no matter what’s happening in the world. Mobile food distributions and cost-saving, volunteer-made t-shirt bags are just two ways the organization has shifted operations to better serve Iowans during COVID-19.
